BRONX - REST AREAS/BEACHES
ORCHARD BEACH (no nudity, but good place to meet other couples and singles and go to the end of the picnic area and find trails for secluded places where some sexual activity is possible) HEAVY POLICE PRESENCE SUMMER OF 2006- Orchard Beach - Pelham Bay Park / Bronx Consisting of about 115 acres at a 1.1 mile long stretch, this sandy stretch is visited by tens of thonds Bronx residents and others during the summer months. Nearby of course is Pelham Bay Park which is loaded with plenty of activities for all. From golf, tennis, and horseback riding to plenty of playgrounds for the kids and picnic areas for the family. At the beach itself there are connected numbered sections (existing as such simply for the sake of identification) to swim off of and picnic within (with lifeguards there during the Summer days). BROOKLYN - REST AREAS/BEACHES
PLUMB BEACH - PARKWAY REST STOP BELT PARKWAY (EASTBOUND) DIRECTLY AFTER EXIT 9 (KNAPP ST) BROOKLYN NY We went to Plum Beach around midnight Saturday night for an encounter with a Bar-Loose club member and while we had a good time (back seat car fucking) we found quite a few people around the rest area. About 8 couples doing their thing around the bicycle path and sand dunes plus quite a few guys around the area and trails. We looked for a better spot around the beach and dunes, but the single guys and onlookers were a real nuisance and annoyance. We ended up doing it in the back seat of our car and a guy in his car next to us jerking off at the expense of our excitement. It was good though; it would've been better if we had been left alone by the dunes or another good spot around the beach. The place is pretty safe and almost everybody do their thing mostly in the open. Police patrols the area from time to time.
LONG ISLAND - NUDE BEACHES
Lighthouse Beach Fire Island, NY It was one of the hottest weekends of the summer- a good day for the beach. We had heard about a beach near the Robert Moses State Park on Fire Island, just past Parking Lot 5. "It's to the left of the bathhouse" we had been told. Being experienced nude beach goers, we expected a hike. But it wasn't long, maybe 15 minutes. Our guide post along the way was the Fire Island Lighthouse, which is visible from the parking lot, and from the beach. The lighthouse is part of the National Seashore park, and the nude beach starts where the State park ends, and the National Seashore begins. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, and friendly. The beach is wide enough for people to stroll at the edge of the surf, and for others to play paddle ball. The water and the beach were clean, considering the heavy use, but there were quite a lot of jellyfish in the water (not unusual in late summer). The undertow was strong, and the waves a bit daunting, keeping many people out of the water, even on a day when it was 99 degrees. Some brave souls, however, were enjoying the 5 and 6 foot waves, boogie boarding in the surf.
THE NAKED TRUTH: The beach is designated as clothing optional. The crowd was very mixed, which was a nice surprise, with more couples than at other large beaches we've visited. And, there were even a few families! There is a police presence at the beach. They frequently make the rounds, driving on a strip of the beach close to the dunes in their three-wheelers and jeeps. But the police are not concerned with naked bodies. They are there to keep the beach clean, and people off of the dunes.
THE BARE FACTS: Once you are on Long Island, getting there is a breeze. Take your route of choice to the Robert Moses Parkway (south of course) and follow it straight to the beach. Signs for the parking areas are good, and parking is cheap. Head to Parking Lot 5. Walk to the East side of the bathhouse (the lighthouse side) and keep walking till you see the prominent sign pronouncing the beach clothing optional.

NEW JERSEY | NUDE BEACHES
Gunnison Beach Sandy Hook, New Jersey Wouldn't it be great if every beach under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service had as enlightened a policy as the one at Gunnison Beach in Sandy Hook National Park, New Jersey. Not only does the National Park Service post signs regarding nudity ("beyond this point ...") they also provide lifeguards and security although clothed, unfortunately. Gunnison Beach is the biggest nude beach in the entire Northeast. Thonds flock to the beach during the summer, and on a good day on the weekend, the parking lot often fills up by 11 a.m. We recently went to Gunnison, on a sunny Monday. There were easily 150 or 200 people on the beach -- men, women, and men dressed as women (one of the few clothed bathers.) Gunnison Beach is BIG and can easily accommodate the thonds who throng here.
No one was in the water, which was quite cold. Gunnison is a friendly beach, and the activities going on resembled any other beach you have ever gone to, except for the lack of clothing. One guy was even fishing from the beach, and was having a good day catching in-season striped bass. From the beach, which is at the entrance to New York Harbor, the New York Skyline, and Staten Island were clearly visible.
THE NAKED TRUTH: The amenities at Gunnison are great. The National Park Service is building a new bath house at the entrance to the beach, and on the beach is a concession stand, selling the usual beach fare of hot dogs and ice cream. The elusive wind screen was quite a popular item at the beach. On the day we went, it was a bit on the breezy side, and it was easy to understand why people use the screens, which block the wind, but not the sun. The screens were available at a nearby beach shop for around $30.
THE BARE FACTS: To get to the beach, take the Garden State Parkway to exit 117, the exit for Route 36. Follow the signs to Sandy Hook. The entrance to the National Park is at the end of 36, where it meets the coast. Enter the park and follow the signs for Gunnison Beach. Park in Parking Lot G. At the bathrooms on the boardwalk near the big gun (cosmic synchronically), head to the beach, and to your right. The nude area is clearly marked. Can't miss it.
