outside of the nude area) We recommend that you bring a small to medium size cooler with your beverage, munches,
sandwiches, etc.A rolling cart will be useful to move your belongings to the nude beach area.

IS NOT AVAILABLE TO NUDE BATHERS. BEER IS ALLOWED.

directly in front of Robert Moses State Park.
At day's end (or at any other time) when you walk back to
the parking lot (Field 5) you'll find the shower facilities at Robert Moses State Park. (see full directions below)
Restroom facilities are available at Lighthouse Nude Beach at a short walking distance and close to the
(nude) beach.
About Light Beach This is the most popular nude beach in New York. It is on the
western
end of Fire Island; Fire island is a barrier island just south of long island. Just
east of Robert
Moses State Park Lighthouse Beach is named for the lighthouse behind the dunes, and is some times called Robert
Moses.
Note that you are not to be nude in the nearby state park, because it is administered by the
State of New York. Lighthouse Beach, like Sandy Hook is administered by federal agencies, and there is no
federal law against public nudity. Signs announcing that beyond this point you may encounter nude sunbathers,
signs were officially installed here In 1994 through the efforts of the Friends of Lighthouse Beach. Although
unofficial, most of the other beaches of fire island are also clothing-optional.
By agreement with the
rangers, please cover up with a towel when walking in the area directly in front of the lighthouse, between the
two orange poles. You'll have to wear at least a swimsuit if you want to visit the lighthouse for the exhibits
or the restrooms.
Nudity is allowed in all beaches designated by the National Seashore. Wear a towel
or swimsuit when moving from the Lighthouse Beach to the Beach Park administered by New York State or when visiting
the Lighthouse exhibits, museum and restrooms.
TRAIN AND BUS SERVICE LIRR to Babylon, then Suffolk
Transit bus to Robert Moses State Park; then walk all the way eastwards towards the lighthouse, and past parking
lot 5 - and into the National Seashore. For train schedules call 718 217-5477, and Call the Suffolk County Transit
Information Service at 631- 852-5200 Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. BUS GOES INTO PARKING LOT FIELD 5 AND
DROP OFF PASSENGERS. THEN FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO BAR-LOOSE GATHERING.
INFORMATION ABOUT
SUFFOLK TRANSIT SYSTEM Have exact fare ready; Driver cannot handle money. Passengers must deposit their own
fare. Arrive earlier than scheduled departure time. Signal to driver as bus approaches. Tell driver your destination.
SCT Drivers are required to announce Major Bus Stop locations. Smoking, Drinking, Eating and playing of radios is
prohibited on buses.
TRAIN AND FERRY SERVICE By train from New York Pennsylvania Station at 33rd/34thSt.
and 7th / 8th Ave.. take the Long Island Rail Road to Bay Shore. From there take a taxi or walk a mile to the ferry
take the ferry to the town of Kismet on Fire island, and take a short walk west along the beach toward the lighthouse

From the North Take I-95
(southbound) or Merritt Parkway of New England (route 15 south) which is also known as the Hutchinson Parkway in NY State.
Go over the WHITESTONE BRIDGE to Eastern Long Island I-495 (the Long Island Expressway -LIE-)then follow "Directions to
Lighthouse Beach - Robert Moses Park" below.
From the South and New Jersey (northbound) Take I-95 over the
George Washington Bridge and go over the Triboro Bridge to Eastern Long Island I-495 (the Long Island Expressway -LIE-)
then follow "Directions to Lighthouse Beach - Robert Moses Park" below.
DIRECTIONS TO LIGHTHOUSE BEACH AT
ROBERT MOSES PARK
Get off the LIE at exit 30s for the Cross Island Expressway (south) The Cross Island
Expressway splits into the Southern and Northern Parkway of Long Island; Take the Southern Parkway (SO) on the left
to exit 40 (Intersection and exit to Robert Moses Causeway "RM") Take the RM Causeway and continue over the bridges
to Fire Island and the Lighthouse Nude Beach. Upon reaching the main entrance to Robert Moses Park continue to Field
5 parking lot and Lighthouse Beach.
At the entrance of Field 5 proceed to parking lot and find parking space.
Directions to our gathering place within the Lighthouse Nude Beach. (clothing optional) DRIVE TO THE
GATE OF FIELD 5, PARKING LOT AND PAY $9.00 PARKING FEE THEN DRIVE PAST THE GATE AND GO LEFT TO THE END OF THE PARKING
LOT, PARK AT ANY AVAILABLE PARKING SPACE.
FIND A WOODEN WALKWAY WITH A SAFETY HANDRAIL ON BOTH SIDES
AND APPROX. 4 FEET OR 5 FEET WIDE THAT ENTERS THE DUNES AREA. YOU'LL SEE THE LIGHTHOUSE TOWER IN FRONT AND SLIGHTLY
TO YOUR LEFT AS YOU ENTER THE WALKWAY. THIS WALKWAY IS IDENTIFIED BY A SIGN APPROX. 18 INCHES BY 18 INCHES IN SIZE
THAT READS, "ROBERT MOSES BEACH PARK, DUNES WALKWAY" ENTER THE WALKWAY AND CONTINUE WALKING FOR APPROX. 7 TO 14 MINUTES
(depending on your pace).
THE ABOVE WALKWAY LEADS TO A PAVED ROAD (another walkway -with no handrails-
continues on the other side of the road =STOP RIGHT HERE= do not continue on the walkway) TO THE LEFT YOU'LL SEE A
GRASS PATCH THAT FORMS A U-TURN FOR THIS ROAD. TAKE THE ROAD ON YOUR RIGHT WHICH IS HEAVILY COVERED BY SAND AND MAKES
IT A SANDY ROAD" CONTINUE WALKING ON THIS SANDY ROAD FOR APPROX. 3 MINUTES UNTIL YOU COME UP TO ANOTHER WALKWAY ON YOUR
RIGHT WITH HANDRAILS ON BOTH SIDES. TAKE THIS WALKWAY FOR APPROX. 1 MINUTE The entrance to this walkway is marked
by sign post indicating "NO DOGS" right below there is another sign indicating BATHROOMS" and right below there is
another sign with a red cross indicating FIRST AID" TAKE THIS WALKWAY THAT LEADS TO THE NUDE BEACH AND YOU'LL
SEE A SIGN THAT READS, "Attention; This beach is traditionally a clothing optional beach. Beyond this point you may
encounter nude bathers"
From the end of the walkway, the beautiful beach is wide open and you will
immediately be able to see A MULTI-COLOR UMBRELLA WITH PURPLE AND LAVENDER COLORED BALLOONS where Bar-Loose members

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARK THERE AND YOU'D BE WASTING TIME BY DRIVING IN CIRCLES.
